The Tennis Game

Lead-in

At the beginning of this session students will be introduced basic facts about tennis, equipment and history of the game. After short presentation, their task will be to search internet (on their preferred search engine) and find the roots of word 'tennis'. With this activity students will practice their self intelligence.

Main activity

In this part of class students will learn about basic strokes and rules in tennis game. After that they will play a little game which includes logical and kinesthetic abilities. One student will get a tennis ball and then say loud a specific shot in tennis. Depending on which shot he mentioned he will throw a ball to next student with his right or left hand. The game ends when one student can't remember any shots or throw a ball with wrong hand. All others students are winners and they will be rewarded with chocolate bar.

Wrap-up

The lesson will end with talk about famous player and biggest tournaments. As a learning activity students will solve given crosswords with names of notable players. Also they will discuss their favorite tournaments and players and their styles of game. This activity develops students' social and spatial skills.
